The pressure
to write is going to be different for all of the writers on Associated
Content. Sometimes a person writes as a hobby and writes only when
they want to and any payment that they receive is just a perk of
the creative outlet that they have. There are writers on AC that
are writing to help out with the bills or to put away a little bit
of cash. Perhaps the pressure to stay focused on writing is the
most in someone who writes for AC for either all or a large portion
of their income. No matter how much you need to focus on your writing
here are some tips to help you focus when you want to stay focused
on your writing.
Lessen Distraction
of Unrelated Material on the Computer
Multitasking on the computer
is easy to do, you can have the browser in which you are looking
for a image to include in your article, have a browser open on the
email account the you receive emails notices that you have a new
comment or offer from AC or a browser to the information that you
are researching for your article can all be productive multitasking.
For every browser that is open that is unrelated to your article
will be a distraction that is not going to be keeping you focused
on your writing.
When You Don't
Feel Like Writing Look for Images
Sometimes even though you
want to be writing you will sometimes feel that you are blocked,
switch gears and look for an image for your article. If you are
writing more than one article at a time you can look for images
for all of your pieces and any future pieces that you have ideas
for. Even though you won't be writing you will be focused on an
aspect of your writing.
Write Away From
the Computer
By keeping a notepad that
you can take notes or even write rough drafts of you article in
you will maximize the opportunities that you can work on your articles.
You can mute the TV during commercials and write down notes, or
anywhere that you can be multitasking.
Remember to Take
Breaks
You shouldn't feel bad
if you can't write all the time, if you would rather keep your attention
on something else, or you have to take a break, there is no harm
in that. You will be more productive in the long run.
Set Goals
The more that you have
to work towards the more motivated you will be to sit down and focus
on your writing.
Sometimes you can't write,
for whatever reason, and that is okay too. Don't worry you will
get back into the groove.
