Medical transcription is the conversion of recorded patient information to a written text document. A medical transcriptionist listens to a recording of notes from a patient's doctor's visit. This information often includes but is not limited to the patient's care to date, medications they were or are currently on and a list of their allergies. Medical transcription allows the medical history of a patient to be brought up on a computer in a moments notice. A medical transcriptionist can work at home as long as the hospital that they intend on working for offers outsource jobs and the system that they would need to use is compatible in their local area.
