Young Child Care for Running an In Home Daycare

Work at Home Mom Resources > Starting an In Home daycare

There are many people who need child care for their children that are not old enough to be at home by themselves. This would likely include any child from 5 to 9 years old. If your children like socializing then they will probably really enjoy it if the children you watch are of the same age. This could limit your cliental, so if your children are happy with who ever you watch you might consider expanding the ages you accept. Since a lot of children in this age group attend school it will likely be that your primary care is the school vacations, weekends and possibly before and after school.

Craft Time - something that can help keep the children from being board is having craft time. This will entertain the children and adds structure to their day.
Snack Time - you can use a healthy but fun snack for snack time. This will help create a structure for the children and they will look forward to it. You may find you want to have them more than once a day.
Keep Track of Children's Belongings - if a child brings a toy or you see that they have a school book write it down. That way when the child is picked up nothing gets left behind.
Regular Story Time - if you have enough regular kids that come everyday you might consider reading a chapter of a book everyday. If someone was gone the day before you could do a quick briefing of what was going on.
