an In Home daycare
A lot of
parents do not want their older children to be home alone before
and after school while the parents are still working. If you live
near a populated bus stop then you would be perfect for this.
You watch a child before they go to school and see that they get
on the bus. Then you watch them in the afternoon until their parents
come and get them. It is likely the first part of the job is spent
helping the children prepare for school. The last part of the
day the kids often will want a snack and likely work on homework.
The
Morning
Depending on how long you will have the children will determine
how much you need to think of. It is likely it will be an hour
or so before you have to see that everyone gets on the bus. Have
a variety of breakfast choices - different cereals, frozen waffles
or bagels, etc. There is no need to go out of your way to have
eggs and pancakes every morning. A lot of the children may have
already eaten, this just helps the ones who have not. Have an
area, like at the kitchen table, where kids can look over their
school work if they need to. Make notes to help you remember if
you need to make sure that everyone has their belongings. You
could have books or toys for the ages of the kids that you are
watching. When the time comes round everyone up and and wait with
them at the bus stop.
The
Afternoon
Wait at the bus stop to welcome the children you will be watching.
Offer a variety of snacks. Have a place for the children who would
like to work on their homework. For children who do not have homework,
have them play or read. Have the children ready to go when you
know that they are going to be picked up.
